Petra Kilian-Gehring

Co-Owner, CoachPersonal Trainer, Instructor: Performance Cycling

Petra Kilian-Gehring is an ACE and AFFA certified personal trainer who has coached individuals with a wide range of skill levels and goals.    She emphasizes functional training and core strength exercises that are essential for an endurance athlete to sustain performance and minimize the chance of injuries. Petra is also an experienced cycling instructor, and her cycling classes are structured to maximize the indoor training season from hill-climbing work to speed intervals whether attendees are beginners or experienced cyclists.  

Petra is a FOUR-time Ironman or Long Distance triathlon finisher, including Ford Ironman Wisconsin, Ironman Regensburg, Germany, Ford Ironman Florida and Challenge Roth, Germany with a personal best of 12:15. She has also competed in TEN half-ironman distance races and numerous other sprint and olympic-distance triathlons as well as running endurance events. In 2009 she qualified for and competed in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Clearwater, Florida. 

Petra is a Red-Cross certified lifeguard for indoors and Open Water. She completed a 10K ultra-swim in 2010.

Casey Lamers

Co-Owner, Coach, Instructor: Performance Cycling

Casey is a Level 2 USA Cycling coach and an experienced running and multisport coach.  He believes that everyone can do better.  He enjoys working with the athlete to define goals and build structured training that works for that individual.  Casey strives to help the athlete understand the training and what it is supposed to achieve while listening to the athlete to make sure the training is staying on track.  Casey is an experienced indoor cycling instructor; he’s led indoor cycling classes for 7 years and over the past 2 years he has led an indoor training program designed to get athletes ready for the spring and summer competitive season.  Casey and several of his athletes are top finishers at local events, but he enjoys working with beginners as much as elite athletes.

Gordy Paulson

Co-Owner, Coach, Instructor: Performance Cycling

Gordy Paulson is a USA Cycling Level 1 certified coach and a Category 1 road  and cyclocross competitor.  He is an accomplished Master road racer with top 10 international competition finishes, numerous series , State Championships as well multiple National Championships to his name.  Gordy is the elected Central Section Trustee on the United States Cycling Federation Board of Trustees and past President of the Wisconsin Cycling Association.

Gordy's athletes have reached high level goals including State, National and International championships.  His approach to coaching balances training intensity  and volume to achieve top performance.  This approach incorporates complimentary factors, such as strength training, flexibility, nutrition, mental focus and quality rest.  This focus helps his athlete's reach their highest potential.  Whenever possible power data is gathered, evaluated and tracked to help athletes reach their highest level of competitive performance.

Jackie Arendt

Jackie Arendt is a professional long course triathlete and coach. In her short triathlon career she has moved through the ranks as an age-grouper where she consistently won local races and placed high at the national level. As a first year professional in 2011 she posted 3 top 4 Ironman distance finishes (St. George, Lake Placid, and Louisville) and qualified as one of the 30 women in the world to race at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. 

She continues to race this year as a professional and additionally coaches local athletes from sprint to Ironman distance triathlons.She loves to share her background in swimming and running to help others improve their technique and confidence and to reach their full potential She has been coaching swim team since 2001 and began leading open water swims last summer.  

Jackie has been a Speed Cycling member since it's very first month. Since she trains for the long stuff, she's the one you might see staying for around 4 hours, sweating up a storm, with Powerbar wrappers scattered around her mat. She loves training with company and making friends along the way! 

Andrew Hellpap

Coach, Instructor: Performance Cycling

Andrew Hellpap is a USA Cycling Level 3 certified coach, who specializes in training athletes for road racing and time trials. He is currently a member of the KS Energy Services/Team Wisconsin cycling team utilizing the coaching of Gordy Paulson, Speed Cycling co-founder. Under Gordy's tutelage, Andrew has increased his racing category two levels in one season and earned a Wisconsin Cycling Association state time trial championship by more than two minutes over the nearest finisher. Andrew is looking forward to helping you reach you training and racing goals. Andrew is a new coach and has a lot of energy to help make a difference in your racing. As always, with Speed Cycling you get access to all of Speed Cyclings expertise even when you are working with a newer coach. We are pleased to have Andrew on board as we have seen his commitment to performance first hand.

Jeff Lamay

Instructor: Performance Cycling

Jeff LaMay is a Certified Cyclops Power Trainer. He has taught at Zoned for Fitness and is looking forward to teaching at Speed Cycling. Over the past five years, Jeff has focused his training on time trial racing. Jeff is a trained athlete of Gordy Paulson. Since training with Gordy, Jeff has participated successfully in WISPORT, ABR time trial series, and U.S. Masters Nationals. Jeff believes in specialized training for optimal performance. He will use his knowledge and experience to help reach your personal goals.

Joe Marks

Joe Marks is a running coach and personal trainer specializing in core strength for runners. He has a BS in exercise science, is certified through NSCA-CSCS and USATF-Level 1. As a personal trainer Joe has worked with a variety of people from the older adult who wants to be steadier on their feet to elite level endurance athletes. Joe has extensive knowledge in core function and functional training for the endurance athlete. His extensive evaluation process can pinpoint weakness and tightness. When these dysfunctions are addressed, the result is better movement patterns and increased performance. Joe has been running competitively for over 13 years. At UW-Platteville Joe was a member of multiple cross country national qualifying teams and competed in track and field. He is a multiple Boston Marathon finisher and loves to race at the local events in the Madison Area. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge from his years of running as well as the great coaches he had to learn from. He continues to broaden his knowledge base through further research and regularly attending coaching and exercise clinics. He would love the opportunity to meet you and help you navigate through the journey of moving and running better!

Joe will be working with Speed Cycling to provide running clinics as well as track workout training opportunities.

Diane Ostenso

Diane Ostenso, in addition to being an accomplished road (5 time national champion) and cyclocross racer (reigning national champion and 3 consecutive national championships, has been trained as a pilates instructor, spin class instructor and personal trainer.  Diane brings her unique blend of skills and experience to Speed Cycling in order that she can guide athletes to discover a new level of performance. Diane will apply her knowledge of cycling as well as fitness as a vehicle to improved range of motion, strength and flexibility. Diane is a USA Cycling certified coach and she is looking forward to working with motivated individuals to help them make the most of their ability and passion.

 

Daniel Reimer

Instructor: Performance CyclingPhysical Therapist

Daniel Reimer is a licensed physical therapist and has been working in outpatient orthopedics for the past five years.  He also has 8 years of spin instructing experience along with a diverse background of coaching and personal training.  Daniel's educational background include a BS in Exercise Physiology from UW- Madison, an MS in Sport Administration and an MS in Physical Therapy from UW-LaCrosse.  His passions include multisport training, personal growth and development, and helping people realize their true life and sporting potentials.  Daniel enjoys his career as a physical therapist because he is able to work with a variety of people, help people identify and correct behaviors that contributed to their conditions as well as motivate them to make life changes.  Daniel will be teaching fitness cycling and core/yoga classes and will be able to provide injury assessments and program development for athletes who are dealing with body issues.  Daniel will definitely bring a positive, energetic, and enthusiastic approach to all of you.
